wee words.

don’t forget to fall in love

Well here we stand
Over the mountain’s edge
Seeping slowly into the stream.
Your eyes widen,
And your veins in blue.
Of all the excitement and horror,
Well don’t forget to fall in love.

A well noted sonnet,
The well sung blues,
The calls of jitter bugs,
The dances through a fever.
The chills of a forgotten night.
A well learned reminder.
Can’t remember to fall in love.

So we may well meet again someday,
But the music has long stopped playing.
There’s a shadow in the back of your mind,
The place where your heart should be.
Well I think of nothing in particular,
Just the same thing over and over again.
As the lights flash past on a lonely ride,
Mustn’t forget to fall in love.

Goodbye California

Goodbye California,
Summer’s nearly here.
Push back the velvet curtains,
The imagery of the snow.
Embrace the wondrous sunshine,
Its comfort and its glow.
But don’t be overjoyed now.
Don’t forget to look
At the tea stains in the carpet,
that tell you where to go.
Well no one can leap to heaven,
in any single bound.
And we’ll forever be chasing,
What will always be running.
Keep trying for the skies dear,
It’s not too far to fall.
Summer’s just around the corner,
And soon we’ll be in California once more.

Burn After Reading

Why when the whiteness left your eyes,
The fleeting warm glows,
The touch or a sensation,
A bridge for the ideal connection,
Why suddenly find themselves free,
Why suddenly homeless.

When we make our own beds,
And we go without wanting,
Why after all the motion,
We always return longing.
Why when the hills turn to mountains,
And all is too frail to cross.
Why not let fall,
The desires for hospitality.
Fall into the depths,
Right into the center.

No one ever means to break,
When they are unable to mend.
Even as the seams falter,
And the fabric torn.
The hope and the fear will guide you,
To a mystery unknown.
And if I ever write you a letter,
In the middle of the night.
Please burn after reading.
